The MCP1601 will work properly with inductor DC resistance down to 0 . The trade-off in selecting an inductor with low DC resistance is size and cost. To lower the resistance, larger wire is used to wind the inductor. The switch resistance in the MCP1601 is approximately 0.5 . Inductors with DC resistance lower than 0.1 will not have a significant impact on the efficiency of the converter. 5.3 L and COUT Combinations When selecting the L-COUT output filter components, the inductor value range is limited from 10 µH to 22 µH. However, when using the larger inductor values, larger capacitor values should be used. The following table lists the recommended combinations of L and COUT.
