Thehigh-voltageDCbusisappliedtotheseriescombination oftheprimarywindingofT1andtheintegratedhigh-voltage MOSFETinsidetheTNY253.Thelowoperatingfrequencyof theTNY253(44kHz),allowsalowcostsnubbercircuitC2and R1tobeusedinplaceofaprimaryclampcircuit.Inaddition tolimitingtheDRAINturnoffvoltagespiketoasafevalue, theRCsnubberalsoreducesradiatedvideonoisebylowering thedv/dtoftheDRAINwaveform,whichiscriticalforvideo applicationssuchasTVandVCR.OnfixedfrequencyPWM andRCCcircuits,useofasnubberwillresultinanundesir- ablefixedACswitchinglossthatisindependentofload.The ON/OFFcontrolontheTinySwitcheliminatesthisproblem by scaling the effective switching frequency and therefore, switchinglosslinearlywithload.Thustheefficiencyofthe supplystaysrelativelyconstantdowntoafractionofawattof outputloading. ThesecondarywindingisrectifiedandfilteredbyD1andC4to createthe7.5Voutput.L1andC5provideadditionalfiltering. Theoutputvoltageisdeterminedbythesumoftheoptocoupler U2LEDforwarddrop(~1V)andZenerdiodeVR1voltage.
