53 / 68 page  MC13110A/B MC13111A/B 53 MOTOROLA ANALOG IC DEVICE DATA Carrier Detect Threshold Programming The “CD Out” pin gives an indication to the microprocessor if a carrier signal is present on the selected channel. The nominal value and tolerance of the carrier detect threshold is given in the carrier detect specification section of this document. If a different carrier detect threshold value is desired, it can be programmed through the MPU interface as shown in Figure 126 below. Alternately, the carrier detect threshold can be electronically adjusted during final test of the telephone to reduce the tolerance of the carrier detect threshold. This is done by measuring the threshold and then by adjusting the threshold through the MPU interface. In this case, it is necessary to store the carrier detect register value in ROM so that the CD register can be reloaded each time the combo IC is powered up. If a preamp is used before the first mixer it may be desirable to scale the carrier detect range by connecting an external resistor from the “RSSI” pin to ground. The internal resistor is 187 k Ω.
