What is LEADED


Leaded in electronic components means electronic components with leads attached.

A lead is a connecting pin that connects junctions of electronic components and serves to transmit electrical signals or power.

Leaded electronic components are mostly composed of DIP (Dual In-line Package) or SIP (Single In-line Package) form.

DIP has exposed leads on both sides, and is used in various components such as IC (Integrated Circuit), resistors, and capacitors.

SIP has exposed leads on one side and is mainly used in various sensors or switches.

Because leaded electronic components are mechanically attached, the components can be easily replaced or manipulated.

Therefore, Leaded electronic parts facilitate repair and maintenance of electronic devices.

However, since leads can cause noise or failure at the part that comes into contact with the circuit board, lead-less Surface Mount Technology (SMT) type electronic components have recently been widely used.
