What is I/O

In electronic parts, I/O refers to parts that process input and output.

I/O components are used to process and transmit various digital and analog signals.

Input (I) means sending an external signal to the system.

For example, it is used to send signals generated by external devices such as mice, keyboards, sensors, and switches to the system.

Output (O) means to send the signal generated by the system to the outside.

For example, they are used to send signals generated by the system to external devices such as motors, speakers, displays, LEDs, etc.

I/O components are usually capable of handling digital or analog signals, and there are different technologies and standards used to handle inputs and outputs.

For example, there are serial communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and UART, and GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output) is commonly used in microcontrollers. In addition, there are I/O parts that support various interfaces such as Universal Serial Bus (USB), Ethernet, and High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI).
